"An Introduction to Heredity" Carroll Lane Fenton, 1925 (No. 812 - Little Blue Book)
Fenton’s goal was to strip the "magic" out of ancestry. He argued that humans and animals are shaped by a mechanical process of genetic inheritance. By explaining chromosomes and Mendel’s experiments, he provided his readers with a scientific toolkit to understand their own biology without needing a university degree. It was a calculated move to move public opinion toward secular science and away from religious or superstitious explanations of life.
